August 26th 2007 - Solo exhibition at Cafe Zing in Long Eaton. My exhibition consists of 2 parts. One part is a series consisting of 9 pairs of photographs of Long Eaton. One from 2007 and the other from yesteryear. The black and white pictures have been very kindly lent to me by Barbara Turner and Don Allen from their family collections so I could take an equivalent photograph from 2007.
The second display at Cafe Zing is a series of 13 of my Landscape photographs.
October 26th- 28th 2007 - Launch and Open Studios at Harrington Mills Studios.
January 2008 - I had a very busy end of 2007 with exhibiting and selling my work at various craft and Christmas fairs where I did extremely well.
I'd like to thank all those customers that I met and had an opportunity to chat with and also all the exhibitors who made me feel so welcome.
January 16th - February 9th 2008
I am thrilled to have had 4 pieces of my work accepted into 'Resolution'- the first Photography Open in Nottingham. It's a great buzz to see my work hanging in a large gallery and watch so many people walk round viewing them and standing chatting about them.

February 9th - The 'view from the top' exhibition has now finished. It's been a wonderful exhilerating experience to see several pieces of my work hanging in a gallery and to have sold a mixture of originals and prints too, has just been fantastic. Many thanks to all those who went to see the exhibition and extra special thanks to those who bought a piece.

I have just finished another exhibition at http://www.viewfromthetop.co.uk and am thrilled to report more original pieces sold.
This time I had entered a new genre of work - my own photos which I have manipulated with computer wizardry.
I know many people do not approve of photos being treated to the point of becoming Digital Art so I have created a new section in my gallery for these pieces to distinguish them from my photography which is not manipulated.
December 2008
It's been an extremely quick year, how time passes when life is good. It seem to have been a whirl of social and sporting events coupled with 'working' holidays and some comission work sandwiched between.

Talking of sandwiches I am holding a solo exhibition at Harrington Mills studios. This is the official blurb.
''Our generation is so fortunate that we have the freedom and ability to move throughout the world to work and live.
It was a canny set of circumstances that brought Jess Calke to live near Long Eaton. Hailing originally from Lancashire and with a momentary stop off in our Capital for a decade or so, Jess arrived in the Midlands rather perplexed and very wide eyed.
As with most artists there was no plan, no firm pathway, apart from the will and commitment to make the most of her new circumstances and to enjoy each opportunity as it arose and to develop a new set of skills.
Photography became a new passion, taking over from a bold and abstract dimension of art.
Her photography was heavily influenced by the new environment she found herself in. She found solace in the quiet of the countryside and warmth when close to animals and so a genre was developed.
An opportunity arose to take a space in the Harrington Mills Studios community so she became an early resident there and has since exhibited regularly with her own solo exhibitions and as part of a wider community in competitions and participating in art and design shows.
Her solo exhibition at Harrington Mills studios from Sunday 1st March 14:00 is taking a more diverse look at our trodden paths, the familiar, the lost in memory, the what’s to come…
It’s an exhibition that moves forward in time, yet looks back with fondness and just as life is forever 3 dimentional so is ‘The Pattern of Life’''
Do join Jess for a spot of afternoon tea on Sunday 1st of March 14:00- 18:00 at Harrington Mills Studios on Leopold Street, Long Eaton and for further information on Jess check out www.redbubble.com/people/jesscalke or www.jesscalke.com

December 2011
This year has flown.
A quick précis of the year starts with a FANTASTIC safari in Tanzania during January and February from which I have had very successful exhibitions.
Then to Jordan for my annual mission during May and June
Most of the summer was taken up with activities at Wigan Rugby League club .. including winning the Carnegie Challenge Cup at Wembley. Result !!
The Open Studios event at Harrington Mills during October was next and my usual pilgrimage to photograph the seals in November.
I am currently part of the Viewpoint Artists exhibition at Woolaton Park in Nottingham during late November and early December . This has been exceptional for me. The last day is tomorrow !
I have been working on a new body of work for the last few months – Big Cats – and working with a new media of putting my art on canvases.
Woolaton Park has been the inaugural showing of this work and wow, it’s provoked lots of feedback and has been very successful for me indeed.
I’ve really enjoyed meeting so many new people and seeing their enjoyment of these new pieces.
The highlights have been very young children who have been incredibly definite and sure of which are their favourites and why and also the raw, spontaneous emotion shown by people who thought they were just out for a walk and a hot chocolate.
Thank you all for all your most encouraging comments and feedback.
